We accept any dried insect. Oil content determines price — not weight.

Palm weevil (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus)

• Oil content: 40–60%
• Oil per tonne: 400–600 kg
• Highest oil content. Tropical. Grows on palm waste.

Waxworm (Galleria mellonella)

• Oil content: 50–60%
• Oil per tonne: 500–600 kg
• Highest oil. Hard to scale commercially.

Superworm (Zophobas morio)

• Oil content: 35–40%
• Oil per tonne: 350–400 kg
• Larger larvae. Easy handling.

Black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens)

• Oil content: 30–40%
• Oil per tonne: 300–400 kg
• Industry standard. Waste-fed. Fast growth.

Mealworm (Tenebrio molitor)

• Oil content: 30–40%
• Oil per tonne: 300–400 kg
• Premium markets. Bran-fed.

Coconut rhinoceros beetle (Oryctes rhinoceros)

• Oil content: 30–40%
• Oil per tonne: 300–400 kg
• Tropical. Grows on coconut waste.

Silkworm pupae (Bombyx mori)

• Oil content: 25–30%
• Oil per tonne: 250–300 kg
• Byproduct of silk industry.

Housefly (Musca domestica)

• Oil per tonne: 200–300 kg
• Lower oil. High protein.

Oil content varies with substrate, rearing conditions, harvest timing, and drying method.

We test every batch and pay accordingly.

How we pay

Base price per kg dried insects multiplied by oil content factor.

• 20–25% oil — Factor 0.8 — Example €1.20/kg
• 25–30% oil — Factor 0.9 — Example €1.35/kg
• 30–35% oil — Factor 1.0 — Example €1.50/kg
• 35–40% oil — Factor 1.1 — Example €1.65/kg
• 40–50% oil — Factor 1.3 — Example €1.95/kg
• 50–60% oil — Factor 1.6 — Example €2.40/kg

Bonuses for clean, dry, single-species material.
Penalties for moisture, contaminants, mixed species.

Prices are indicative. Final price depends on market conditions and volume.
