Equipment
Modular. Scalable. Yours.
From dried insects to biodiesel — the full system.
Solar Dryer
- Low-cost, low-tech, effective
- Dries any insect to under 10% moisture
- Can be built locally
- Almost no operating cost
Cold Press
- Extracts oil from dried larvae
- Simple, robust, low maintenance
- 50–70% oil recovery
- Press cake becomes protein meal
Biodiesel Processor
- Two-stage transesterification — acid esterification plus base catalysis
- Handles high-FFA insect oil
- Containerized, portable, proven
- Based on 25 years of biodiesel engineering
The process
- Insects are reared and harvested
- Solar dryer reduces moisture to under 10%
- Cold press extracts the oil
- Two-stage transesterification converts oil to biodiesel
- Protein meal and frass are sold as byproducts
Same chemistry as palm or sunflower
Insect oil goes through the same transesterification as any vegetable oil.
The difference is free fatty acid content. Insect oil runs higher FFA, so we use a two-stage process:
- Acid esterification converts free fatty acids
- Base transesterification converts triglycerides
This is standard practice for high-FFA feedstocks. Our equipment is built for it.
Any feedstock
- Insect oil
- Used cooking oil
- Animal fats
- Crude palm oil
One processor. Any waste lipid.
